Today the European parliament will debate about the subject internet gambling. The Danish man Christel Schaldemose, who is a member of the European parliament, will be present a proposal that says that every country has to determine their laws individually. Other members find this not a good idea, and thinks that European Union should act as if it was one country on subjects like these. The European Parliament will at least debate about the subjects gambling addictions, illegal gambling behaviour and the age limit for gambling online.
At this moment there are about 3 million people that regularly gamble on the internet in Europe. Although gambling is just a nice pastime for most people, there are still some people that really lose themselves in internet gambling. They become addicted, and in several cases they even turn to criminality to pay for their gambling addiction.
