Online Casino Industry Moves On Despite US Poker Seizures
Online Poker The world of online gambling was thrown into a frenzy the past couple of weeks with the US government seizing bank accounts that held funds to pay out online poker players. Late this past week, however, many of the top online poker sites in the world were back to accepting US players.
The poker players themselves were hurt more by the seizure than the sites. Over $30 million was frozen, leaving many players to wonder if they had seen the last of their winnings. At the very least, the players had been inconvenienced.
“I was worried not because I had money tied up in my accounts,” said online poker player Jon Bresh, “but because I enjoy playing the game of poker and I was concerned I would no longer be allowed to make deposits to play.”
Bresh had his worries relieved late this past week when the online site he played at once again started taking his credit card transactions. Bresh and other online players have taken that as a sign that everything is on its way back to normal.
Representative Barney Frank was keeping a close eye on the events of the past couple of weeks. He has proposed legislation that would legalize Internet gambling. The governments seizure of the bank accounts in New York and California could lead to Frank speeding up the process on his two gambling Bills.
