Parrotheads can rejoice as the Flamingo Casino in Las Vegas is opening a new Jimmy Buffet-themed casino which will be unveiled on October 1. The new Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo joins the existing Margaritaville restaurant and will include 15,000 square feet of gaming space. The transformation of the old casino area will see it get a facelift that includes palm trees and a tropical decor, with the world’s largest margarita — clocking in at 8,500 gallons — prepared to celebrate the grand opening. To gamble means to “bet on an uncertain outcome” or to “stake something on a contingency: take a chance,” according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary. The implication is that gambling is risky. That is true. It does a disservice to gloss over that and pretend that it’s just a fun pastime with no risk. The people who say that gambling is dangerous are right.
